Additional Comments |
Dr. Reed gives wonderful lectures. They are clearly outlined on a projector at the beginning of class so I suggest arriving a few minutes early to copy the outline. Success in the class depends solely on your ability to write with intelligence and organization and take quick, detailed notes as he lectures. His policy on attendance states that more than 6 absences results in automatic failure of the course but he hardly ever took attendance so it wasn't a big deal. There were two take-home essays and three in-class essay tests, each worth 100 points. The in-class tests involved choosing 1 of 3 short essays to write about a primary source document, like a painting or speech from history. You also had to choose 1 of 3 prompts for a long essay which had broader topics. I received an A in the class but I wouldn't consider it easy. I learned a lot of information and enjoyed his quirky sense of humor and love for knowledge. Would recommend to decent writers and anyone slightly interested in European history.
