Since this is a web course, you will never meet Dr. Sallan. In fact, the only way you can get in contact with her is via email. Depending on her schedule she could get back to you in a few hours to a week or so.
There are 5 module exams taken during specific time frames. You have a week at a time to take the exam and you do NOT need to go to the testing center to take them. She does exercise academic honesty when taking the exams, but I personally used my book when taking the tests. They have a 1 hour time limit and there are 50 multiple choice questions.
For every module exam there are quizzes that are taken on the book's website. You take them to get perfect scores and email them to Dr. Sallan. Each chapter is different, ranging from 5 to 12 quizzes.
There are also discussion boards that need to be done, Pick two of them, answer and you'll get 25 points for each one.
Lastly, there is a pain-in-the-butt term paper that is due the last day of classes. For 50 points, you write about infectious diseases in body systems and will take you weeks to write. It takes about 25 pages to write for only 50 points worth of a grade. Pain in the butt but required.
One thing to be aware of is that Dr. Sallan doesn't grade all assignments as soon as she gets them. She sporadically grades then whenever she feels like it. Some students got their grades within days of completion, other students didn't get their grades until after the final. So be prepared for that!
One more note, the book is mandatory, but the school doesn't offer the book. You'll have to use another source to get the text. I recommend using Chegg.com... you can rent the book for about $60 (as opposed to buying it for $150) and return it to the company after the semester is over with free shipping.
