This was Dr.Schugart's fist time teaching trig and he did a very good job. He was very helpful and gave reviews before tests. Trig is very confusing, but he did his very best to make it understanding. He gives optional homework and goes over it before class if you have any questions. If he ever teaches the class again I recommend taking him.

Mr. Schugart is a supper easy teacher who doesnt require alot of work from you. He doesent care if you come to class or not as long as you show up for the quizzes and tests. There are 10 quizzes which come from the homework (which is not mandatory) and 3 tests plus the final. I would reccomend him to everyone because he is soooo easy and you should get a good grade in his class!

Do NOT take him for math, if you have him now get out of the class. He will put you to sleep, I text during the class just to stay awake and learn what I need to. I took this class with one of my friends and we have to keep each other awake. We figured out that he hates it when the people in the class are happy, but loves it when people get stuff wrong. Seriously, if you don't know how to do something or you answer a question and get it wrong he gets a smile on his face he'll laugh. The past class I had we went over some stuff and he did this very long problem with different questions you had to answer. Once he was done solving everything he told the class nothing he just went over would be on the final. This wasted 20 minutes of class review that was originally supposed to be for the final. Overall the class is very boring and his tests are annoying as well because he uses looney tunes characters and things that are so dumb and you can't focus on the problem because your trying to pronounce a random word. If you take this class you NEED energy pills or some form of caffeine to stay awake.

Dr. Schugart is socially awkward but will bend over backwards to help you, if you even need it. The content of Math 109 is already pretty easy, and Dr. Schugart doesn't try to make it hard. If you passed a math class in high school, you can handle Dr. Schugart's 109 class. He is always pretty laid back and has a subtle sense of humor.
If you're looking for a gen ed math credit, this is the class you want!

Class work: After 5 years I am finally about to graduate, and have put off mathematics due to my history of maintaining poor math skills. However, the material for this class is easily comprehended and applicable to daily activities, which include calculating finances (savings, loans, etc), simple statistics and placing statistics in graphs and charts that display the received information.
Professor's teaching ability: Dr. Schugart is exceptionally clear and precise, never above your head. If you care to learn, he will never be a bore. Any class can become boring if the student is careless.
Professor's demeanor: he is the most humble professor I've met. Considering his intelligence, he never treats the class as ignorant for not understanding the simple concepts he is teaching. There is no pretension or the traditional 'academic arrogance' about him. He wants the students to learn, and truly meets them at their level.
Approachability: he is probably the nicest, or definately one of the nicest, people I have ever met. You can ask for help and he is sure to aid you the best he can.
Extra tid-bits: in problems he usually uses cartoon characters as examples. His sense of humor is subtle, but funny. Having bizzare examples in problems helps us to apply the basic principles and concepts in any circumstance, whether it be earth, the DC world or Looney Tune-land. Trust me, the examples are great!
CONCLUSION: Western is blessed to have a professor like him.
