I heard she was retiring, but in the event she will still be here I will dutifully fill this out. For one, any lecture given in a public speaking class by the teacher seems a bit pointless, as does reading the book. Only experience can teach. The grading of the speeches is completely subjective, but is made out to be objective. If you ask a question or make a statement in class and you are out of favor with her she will dismiss you as if nothing was said. However, if you are in favor, this class will be so easy for you that everyone else will talk about you behind your back.

Sadly, Mrs. Priest retired after this semester. She was a great teacher- very knowledgable in this course and caring to the students. It was a very easy class the way she structured it. You really get to know your classmates and have a lot of fun. She'll be missed!

She's OK. For some reason she really doen't seem to have a plan. She just does things day by day and doesn't really seem sure of whaty she's doing. She doesn't stick to things as much except attendance. You miss more than a few and she'll eat you alive.

Mrs. Priest is very nice. Over all the class was probably one of the easier honors classes. If you just read the summeries in your book and do the questions on the CD you can make an A on the tests. You do four speeches which aren't graded very harshly. There isn't need to take notes or really pay attention in class, unless you are taking about the speeches you are to give. All the test info is from the book

I had fun in this class. There are alot of true/false questions on the exams that can be tricky. Alot of class discussion.

While Mrs. Priest grades very hard and there are four speeches to do, I question the overuse of a textbook in a speech course. There was a quiz everyday and I just wish that there wasn't so much weighted on text vs. speech. By the way, if you hate speaking, I wouldn't think that the tests are your gateway out of it...they contain ambiguous questions and we were constantly asking for points back. Overall, she was pretty nice, but some of the book stuff was useless.

Ms. Priest is an okay teacher, she is just not very organized. She also gives you a lot of busy work like this is your only class. She is very nice as a person though and does make the class fun with the presentations. But, if you're looking for a lot of teaching, she just doesn't do it. She pretty much leaves it up to the student to read the book.

Mrs. Priest is one of the worst teachers I have ever encountered. She waits till the last few weeks to tell you that after two absences, she takes off 10 pointes per absence after that off of your final grade. She plays favorites too, so if you aren't a favorite, you aren't getting an A, no matter how hard you try, and if she REALLY doesn't like you, she'll pick on you in class. When you ask a question or give a comment and she doesn't like you, her response is ALWAYS "Um hm" then she will turn her back. She is very mean!!! I don't know why mean people become teachers!!!

Has her own view of how a speech should be done and any deviance from that norm will result in a poor grade. She nitpicks speeches as well - I had points deducted for being too loud. The grades on my speeches were good, and then we argued a point one day, and I never got higher than a C on a speech after that. Very inconsistent grading leads to student frustration.

Ms. Priest is challenging and is willing to help her students if you take the time to set up an appointment. She is hard, but will work with you, especially on outlines.

Dr. Priest knows her stuff, her problem comes in relating it to her students. She grades on the outline instead of the delivered speech. So don't take her if you think that speaking well will get you an A. She is more interested in a perfect outline.

She is ok but expects you to be a speech specialist or something. She grades too hard for such an easy class. Also her attendance policy is shit. She took 50 points off my final grade(i wouldve had a B)but the guy who sat behind me never came to class and he got 20 points taken off. It was really unfair.

Nancy Priest sucks!!! Don't take this teacher unless you're really good at speech or you can shove your head really far up her ***. She only wants it her way (by the book), so you can't be creative on your speeches. She also grades too hard on the shy people, who can't just get up in front of people and have "a relaxed and confident posture." Whatever. She wants everyone to be speech majors or something. She's so closed-minded too. I hate her. I could go on.

She gives favortism to all the males in the class. She expects you to be going into speech and she thinks that her class is the only one that matters. No matter how hard you try or work on your speech you will only get a "C" or higher unless you are a guy then you can put it together on the last minute and make a "A+"

I had to withdraw (not for grades - I was getting an A) But she is overboard on speech concepts. This class should be to get you in front of people without freaking out, not to be a congressman. It might be good if you are a communications major - but avoid it if you are not.

Rich, snooty woman. I mean come on, its public speaking for crying out loud, how easy do you expect it to be? I would stay away from this one if I had to do it again. She wrote the workbook that you use in the class.
