Mrs. Notheisen knows art like the back of her hand and if you actually listen to her lectures, which all the people who gave sad faces obviously didnt, you will find that she has great perceptions of art and a cool way of explaining peices. I always wrote about a page on every homework assignments and put a lil thought into them and I never made below an A. The tests aren't hard at all. I do reccomend not missing class even though she gives you the notes and a study guide on blackboard. Her lectures are intriging. I definitely look at art in a whole new way now and am glad I took the course.

Laurin is such a nice person. She has been understanding and helpful to me with everything that I have talked to her about. She is no nonsense but that does not make her mean. Please just ignore the other silly evaluations from people who didn't work and gave poor excuses. If you want to try Printmaking then you have to take her classes anyway.

I enjoyed the processes discussed in this class, but it was very hard physical work. However you get to explore your own artistic endeavors and come up with your own subject matter, and make multiple copies of your art. Mrs. Notheisen can be very moody at times, but she is usually really easy to get along with. I recommend this class if you want to make wonderful portfolio pieces and aren't afraid of getting dirty and spending a lot of time at FAC.

This class is easy cause it requires you to think and she doesnt grade hard at all on your designs, but you must have a pretty good imagination, you work with Photoshop and you are pretty much on your own, the only thing is the paper and catridge you have to buy are a combined $120, i promise, but it is a fun class she is so nice

This class was challenging but I learned a lot. Notheisen really expects a lot from each individual, but is also very helpful. There is only one test, the final, and its super-easy, just make sure to take notes throughout the semester, and READ THE SYLLABUS, and you'll do great.

Great teacher. Some people don't like her because they think she plays favorites but those people are the ones that aren't doing the work. If you show up and work hard class will be enjoyable and relaxing.

Professor Notheisen can be a little intimidating, but she is really nice and willing to help if you just ask. This class is very open and self-directed which is nice. The process is challenging and exciting to work with. I learned alot and really enjoyed this class.

This class was BORING. I heard that Jeff Jensen's class is much better. We started with a bunch of lines and they progressed into different designs...it got very repetitious and boring. Not a hard class though, and she stopped taking attendance after awhile.

Mrs. Notheisen is super nice. She grades rather difficultly, but she lets you do projects over if you aren't happy with your grade. Advice: Make sure you pick a five line design that you are REALLY fond of because you will be looking at it for an entire semester.

She is a nice person and a great teacher. The only problem is she will explain things once and then you go back and have to ask her for help if you don't understand. She is a hard ass on grading. Make sure your work is clean cut and neat. Your work haves to be outstanding to get an A. Other then that take the course she pushes you to want to do better by her hard ass grading. That helps you to improve as an artist.

Ms Notheisen may be talented, but she has trouble relating her knowledge to her students. Also, her method of grading makes it impossible to get an A in this class. She expects perfection out of every design. In my opinion, this is not a good begining design class.

I really liked this class and the teacher. She was very knowledgeable in her subject and you could come to her if you had any questions. She was very willing to help any of her students. This class was not easy, she gave quizzes and you had to spend some time studying for this class but I really enjoyed art, so I didn't mind the extra studying.

You may think Art Appreciation is easy but not this class. She doesn't explain things very well. Also you have to memorize paintings,dates, and artist. She is not a very good professor in my mind. If you want a good grade don't take this teacher.

In my experience with her painting skills, she might like my painting today and the next day she might not, often she would change her mind, granted though she is a good artist. The final was something else, there were 18 of us in her class, each student had to do a paper upon 2 Masters, consisting of 5 pages. The final was (fill in the blank), we were only allowed 30 min. to take the test. Needless to say, most of the students failed the test, at least the ones I talked to. From what I understand this is her regular routine for every painting class.

Although she knows her material, she is way too picky as to your answers on tests, especially spelling. example: she displayed the painting of Whistlers Mother and on the test I answered Arangement in black and grey. which was close, I forgot to put #1 at the end. and she took half off for it. She rarely puts much on the boards, which you cant see from near the back in the dark, also she is hard to follow when taking notes. One last thing, if you go into her class expecting to increase your art appreciation, forget it. I was open to art before I went in and now I am closed to it. If I see another masterpiece, it will be way too soon. Other people may feel different but the 5 people who I sat near all agreed with me..Take it for what its worth.
