This class is very easy but there are 5 3-page papers and a final research paper. Dr. Begnal is nice sort of but is so scattered that you never know what she is talking about. On the assignments she doesn't explain what she really wants but over all she is a pretty easy grader. She says that attendance is required but it isn't really but you need to be there more than you aren't there.

Dr. Begnal is... different. She's not the most exciting person you'll ever meet, but she's a nice lady and she knows her stuff. There are no tests, but a few papers written in different styles (Rogerian argument, rhetorical analysis, etc.). Either I'm a great writer or she's an easy grader (probably the latter) because I've gotten A's on all of my work so far.
Her only real problems are that she doesn't seem very organized in her presentations and it's hard to 'connect' with her, which results in some fairly dull classes. Every now and then she'll loosen up a bit, which results in class being sort of fun. The notes are few and far between and she does take attendance.
Overall, I don't have much of a problem with her. She takes some getting used to and will ramble at times, but if you pay attention and make a decent effort, you'll be fine.

Professor Begnal is definantly different. You have to do select readings out of the book basically everyday but there are no tests. Your grade depends on 5 papers, a research paper, and your journal entries. She rambles a lot in class making it a very boring hour. The writing exercises we do are very elementary but you get participation points for them. Her grading system is really random but not too harsh. If you don't mind being bored and doing elementary work then take it. It's easy.

Kate Begnal is a psycho who is severly bitter about her divorce. I learned this the first day of class. She isn't really good at getting her class involved, everyone would just stare at her , so eventually she would answer herself. If you do take her, don't worry about being on time, she never is. Late every day, I swear! The only good thing was that her tests are so easy! They are essay but not to deep. As long as you know the meaning of the story and a few details then you are going to pass for sure!

This class was "interesting." She asked for three papers on each of the topics covered and each was a different type of paper. I got little out of the lectures because she is very scattered in her thoughts and teaching. Overall the class was easy but also very boring.

Professor Begnal is different. If you can look past that, then the class is pretty good (although we don't get much accomplished in class). You have to read some short stories, poems, and plays from the textbook but for the most part, they are pretty good. There are only 3 tests and there are 3 papers. The tests are over each section of literature that is studied (short story, poetry, and drama) and then the papers are over each section as well. It's hard to figure out what she wants in the papers though. She sometimes rambles on and on about things that don't really have to do with the class. But, it is pretty good, if you can look past the little things that sometimes become annoying.
