Dr. Davison is a wonderful and gifted teacher. She is very practical and takes a common sense approach to teaching. She will do anything to help her students learn. If you attend class and do what is asked of you, you will make an A.

Dr. Davison is a wonderful woman. She will help you and will adhere to an accomodation sheet if you have one. She is very laid back in her presentation of the class and also with the work she has the students to do. I really enjoyed this class. She gives a study guide for the mid term. If you study this there is no way you can make a bad grade on it. The final is watching a movie, that the students and her agree on watching, and then writing a short reflection on it.

For 352 this is easy credit but I do not think I learned a lot in this class. To me it just consisted of a lot of busy work that was supposed to reflect diverse learning situations but never got too in-depth on how to reach diverse groups of students.
Dr. Davison is a nice lady and she is very understanding of any issues you might face in this class but she is not a very enthusiastic instructor which can wear on you fast if you take this as a nice class. Most of the time in class we watched videos and our final was watching the movie Crash and writing a reflection. Also, you get lots of handouts relating to diversity in a classroom setting but there is never a ton of discussion about them so I felt that valuable learning was lost due to that.
Your grades in this class focus on doing your 15 hours of fieldwork which is worth 200 points, different versions of your unit plan which are worth 350 points in total, attendance/participation worth 100 points, a midterm test which she gives you all the questions for in advance worth 50 points, a textbook analysis which is a pain in the butt worth 100 points, a personal biography worth 50 points, an independent project worth 50 points, and a notebook due at the end of the semester out of 50 points. Davison is an easy grader as long as you put effort into your work and I know quite a few people ended up with A's at the end of the semester.
Overall, this is a very easy class but I thought I'd get more out of it than I eventually did. I found the material very dry and a rehash of ideas I learned in 250.

Dr. Davison is a very nice person. However, her teaching skills leave something to be desired. She was very unorganized, often forgetting to tell her night class things we needed to know. She gave lots of handouts that one was expected to read, but very little discussion of the handouts was implemented. We mostly watched TV/video programs. While enjoyed getting to know Dr. Davison, I did not enjoy this class very much. I felt like I learned very little.

Before I really begin this evaluation, I want to note that Dr. Davison is a wonderfully nice lady. She is very sweet and caring and would probably be a great grandmother-type.
However, being a nice, likable person does not make one a great teacher. Davison's class is very simple, but very boring. Although more organized than Dr. Cooksey (another sweet lady), the material Davison covers seems to never merit an entire semester of class time. She hands out articles and worksheets, tells you to read them before next time, and then proceeds to read them to the entire class practically verbatim.
I had Dr. Davison at night and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the night class, but save one or two occasions, we stayed either the entire time or over time. I have no problem whatsoever with staying the entire class period as long as I am learning something or the class is engaging in a meaningful activity (neither of which happened very often).
As I noted above, Davison is a sweet lady, but she is also very wishy-washy and needs to return to teaching in the schools for at least a year or two to adapt her hopelessly idealistic content to the current realities faced by teachers. I also think she needs to raise her standards because I feel as if some people got through the class who simply should not be entering the teaching profession.
All in all, Davison is a wonderful lady, but she represents the problem of teacher education programs: unrealistic, lots of useless busy work, and the professor being a non-example of teaching methods. I regret that I had to take this course (or really any other education course) instead of a course in my content area that would have been more helpful upon entering a high school.

I absolutely loved Dr. Davison!! She brings so much information and ideas to the class! She is laid-back, open to discussion, ideas, and is such a friendly person!
During most of the classes, we had discussions where we each had the chance to tell our opinion on a topic, and she was so open to everyone's ideas. We watched informative, helpful videos, read interesting handouts, and talked about some really interesting things in class. There are several writing assignments, but each are fairly easy to complete if you follow her guidelines and examples. She gives you several 'rough draft' assignments that you build on to get to the final unit plan.
As for the textbook, there are several chapters on the tests, but they include such great information and ideas that can be used in the actual classroom!
I learned so much in this class, and loved having Dr. Davison. She is such an asset to the Education Department. I highly recommend taking her and wish I could again!

I don't know what all the rest of these people were talking about but. Dr. D, is so cool. She is really down to earth and laid back. One thing I will say, you are going to have to be organized when it comes to taking her course. She has several assignments, but they aren't difficult and she will give you a chance to take care of them. She just doesn't stand up in class and lecture, we have time to discuss, laugh, and give your own personal views with the course content. Word to the wise, Come to class, because she doesn't play with attendance, although I had an A in the class, i ended up with a B at the end of the semester because of missing a few classes. I recommend that everyone in the education department try to take Dr. Davision, because she is one of the realist and best professors that you can take out of the education department.!!

I really enjoyed Mrs. Davison's class. She brings up very interesting topics during class and allows everyone to tell their opinion. She can be scatterbrained at times, but she's a very good teacher. There is a group presentation during the course, but she grades them easily. Most groups received A's in my class. You also have to do 15 hours of field work and there is a field work portfolio due at the end of the semester. As long as you attend class regularly and try your hardest, you will get a good grade. Plus, most of her tests are open book. If you're looking for a good teacher for EDU 250, I would definitely recommend Mrs. Davison!

Professor Davison knows a lot about the teaching field because she's actually been in it. She has lots of advice that she is glad to share.
You do some actual teaching projects with other students in this class, to learn group work and how to organize a lesson.
A lot of work is done out of class, in observations that are required, plus a teaching folder that you can also use later.
Although Professor Davison seems scatterbrained sometimes, it's only because she is so smart.
You can have some great discussions in her class.
Her tests could be less confusing and hard, but all in all you really learn a lot in her class. You learn about how to get things done, get along with people, and work on your own.
Not a class for people who want to be spoon-fed everything. If you can read the chapters yourself and self-motivate to get your work done, and don't depend on her to do everything for you, you will be OK.
Professor Davison is always available for students who need help, and is a very caring person. I would recommend her class for people who can be there every time and are serious about learning.

Do not take this teacher. Her class is so unstructured that I couldn't stand to be in it another day. She's very random and nothing that she talks about relates to the class at all. It's a complete waste of time. I don't understand how a teacher that doesn't know how to teach is TEACHING an INTRO TO TEACHING CLASS. I have friends in there now that said they finger painted the other day. How does that in anyway relate to an intro to teaching class? Good luck.

THIS CLASS IS AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME WITH MRS. DAVISON AS THE TEACHER!! IT IS SAD TO THINK THAT THE FUTURE EDUCATORS OF OUR SOCIETY ARE TAKING THEIR INTRO. COURSE FROM SUCH A HORRIBLE TEACHER. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT I DIDN'T LEARN A THING, OR HAVE TO WORK FOR MY GRADE WHICH IS NOT A GOOD THING IN A COURSE SUCH AS THIS ONE. MRS. DAVISON IS VERY, AND I STRESS VERY, UNORGANIZED AND SCATTERBRAINED ABOUT EVERYTHING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE UNIVERSITY LETS THIS WOMAN TEACH, ESPECIALLY A CLASS THAT IS TEACHING STUDENTS HOW TO TEACH. I AM SURE SHE IS A NICE LADY OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM, BUT AS A TEACHER SHE HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. THIS CLASS CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT BECOMING A TEACHER, I DON'T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO W/ THE PROGRAM NOW B/C I AM SCARED I MIGHT HAVE TO HAVE HER AS A TEACHER AGAIN. NOT ONLY HAS SHE FAILED AS A TEACHER BUT SOMEONE ELSE IN A HIGHER POSITION IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB EITHER, IN ORDER FOR THEM TO ALLOW HER TO REMAIN TEACHING. BOTTOM LINE: MRS. DAVISON AS A TEACHER FOR EDU 250 IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME, ENERGY, AND MONEY. I WISH MORE STUDENTS WOULD STAND UP AND VOICE THEIR OPINIONS AS WELL B/C THE MAJORITY OF MY CLASS FEELS THE SAME WAY I DO ABOUT THIS "WOMAN" (I don't even like to refer to her as a teacher.)

this class frustrated me to no end. She wil tell you one thing, but do another. It is important to read, because the test covers the book. However, she kind of randomly goes over the reading. It felt like she was kind of thrown into the class without wanting to teach it. She also likes to forget she has class and walk in 14 1/2 minutes late so we can't leave. Make sure you do the work, but don't expect much help from her.

Dr. Davison is unorganized and generally uneffective. I feel cheated in that I didn't get out of this course what an introductory course to one's major should offer. This was her first semester however, so perhaps she will reshape her class next semester. But in general she was scatterbrained, unclear, and bias in her grading. If you are serious about education, I would reccomend taking someone else.

Dr. Davison is a nice person but her teacher style is much to be desired for. She explains random things that do not pertain to the chapter discussed and expects you to know that material. She also tells her students to read a specific chapter and then comes in talking about something completely different than what is in the chapter. She doesn't explain long term projects well at all and you are left more confused after asking her a question than if you had figured it out on your own.
