I took Dr. V in the spring of 2006 and we had a great class despite a few of the loudmouths in there. However, he told us that he woudln't give any exams or finals in the class as long as we paid attention and kept the conversation going. We did a great job. We met once a week on a Tuesday night and each week various groups would bring snacks so the break was nicer. No exams given, however, 3 papers are due, 2 are small and one is the final paper. You have to do a book review and a movie review on a disabled person. Very easy class, but you do learn a lot.

Vokurka is an awful choice for this class. He was nice enough to not give us any tests though. We had to do two book/movie reviews (1-2 pages), 2 short papers (3-4 pages), and 1 big research paper (8-10 pages) at the end. This was a night class, and he allowed us to bring in food each night since the class went through dinner time. We had a 15 minute break in the middle to eat and use the restroom, etc. As for lectures, he was very random, didn't use the book, and like to argue with the class. Each night we would leave not really knowing what we had learned. He was very stubborn and would get off topic every single night so we never really learned much about special ed. This is a foundation course for the rest of your EXED work, so do not take him if you have the choice, because it'll only be a waste of time.

Dr. Vokurka is ummm boring! His classes bored the crap out of me and my classmates. He has great intentions and is totally rooting for your success but his presentation skills are lacking. But on a positive note, he does allow for students to make up some missed work. And his tests are online and he says you can use your book, notes, and "whatever else" so its possible to do really well. The only real hard part is the big project. Just get started early and you'll do fine!

I took the WEB course and the tests were very hard. Just because you can use your book doesn't make the tests easy. He only gives 2 hours for the test and it's 50 questions long. It's rediculous because he rewords the questions so that you CANNOT find them in the book. If you take him, memorize the book before taking the test. However there are so many other things to get grades on that even if you do bad on the tests you can still do okay because of the weekly assignments which were very easy.
