What can I say about Dr. Houle ...? He loves Mongolia and does all of his archaeological work there. He's a funny guy - often cracks jokes and sometimes makes fun of himself when his french accent gets in the way of our way of speaking. Personally, I really enjoy the topics of his classes, but his teaching style needs a bit of polishing. He tends to be all over the place. He uses a lot of power point slides with tons of info in them, but don't worry -- you don't need to write everything down. Just pay attention. Do the readings and you'll do fine on the exams. His questions are straight-forward, but can sometimes be difficult. He always brings chocolate-covered espresso beans on test days :) Take his Archaeologist Looks at Death class - covers a lot of information over the rituals surrounding death - some very interesting articles to read. Intro to Archaeology is interesting as well - his class is definitely easier and more fun than Dr. Applegate's, but you may learn a little more in Dr. A's class. Old World Pre-history is another great class he teaches. The topics alone make the classes interesting.
