Pretty much terrible teacher. But was an easy A. Takes all exam questions from homework. Attendance is MANDATORY. Which sucks!! Is very sarcastic in class, to a point where it is funny. Easy class though.

Profe Eller was a nice lady but an awful teacher. The course was basically an online course that met in a class to do worksheets. She teaches (if you want to call it teaching) by doing a few example problems. All the homework AND TESTS are online. The tests are extremely frustrating because they are on blackboard, and once you submit an answer you cannot go back. If you don't know the answer to a question, tough luck, time management. If asked about the testing methods, she'll ramble on about how studies show your first answer is usually the correct answer, well, what if it's not? Too bad. I highly recommend you take a different spanish professor, I was going to minor in spanish until I had this course.

I wouldn't take her again.. Biggest mistake I have made so far since at WKU. First of all she is absolutely crazy. She maybe says 3 English words a class.. It is terrible. I def. should have dropped the class. Did I mention she lost not one, but two of my worksheets/papers I turned in(She also did this with a few other students). Said she never got them. I got a 0 on both.. Take another teacher unless you want a challenge that is near impossible to accomplish. PROBABLY THE WORST TEACHER AT WKU!!!

Prof. Eller knows her stuff! She teaches this class just as if it were a high school spanish course. She reviews the basics before even starting the actual curriculum. Lots of grade opportunites too. Class attendance is required and helps your grade ALOT. Very approachable and made class interesting- not boring.

Profe Eller as she prefers to be called is a very smart woman and really lnows her spanish. She has lived in Spain for a year and is originally from San Diego. She however does not know how to teach. She simply reads what is in the book. Also be prepared to use Blackboard ALOT. She will mention assaignments in class one time if you are lucky. Most homework is never talked about and you have to hunt for ir on blackboard. Do not ask her any questions about assaignments either becuase she will either ignore you or if you do get a response she will simply tell you to look it up on blackboard. All of your homework is online and will tell you the right answer if you get it wrong. This is probably the most beneficial part of the class. While the book is not required good luck passing going on what you lern in class. You pretty much have to teach yourself in this class. Be ready to invest at least an hour each day to doing spanish homework.

Spanish is better taken sooner than later. "Profe Eller" is a smart lady, she just isnt sure how to explain certian concepts. I know she stuggled quite a bit with my class. You get to drop ur lowest quiz...and at the end of the year, she informs you you have 3 free absences. use them wisely.Any more and its 3 pts off ur final grade for each day.

Profe Eller knows what she is talking about. She will help you in class and probably outside of class but I never needed to go. She may assign a lot of hw but none of it is due until the test day. Her tests are really easy if you pay attention in class and study the worksheets that you do in class. Nothing is over kill though. She only assigns things that will actually help you. Also the quia is by participation and other teachers do it by correctness so thats always good. Attendance is a major thing though.

She will scare you the first day and speak all spanish but the next class she talks english. Her tests are SUPER EASY, all you have to do is memorize the worksheets. As long as you pay attention in class and particpate you will do fine! I thought this class was an easy A. Take her if you can, she makes spanish very easy, which is what I liked!

Mrs. Eller is a nice enough lady. She apparently majored in Communication as an undergrad which I don't believe for a second. I am a Spanish major, I already knew everything she 'taught' in the class from high school because I had taken AP Spanish so I mostly just sat there and tired to use the class as a review. I couldn't help but feel sorry for everyone in the class who didn't already know what she was trying to teach, she has the most incomprehensible style on earth and I know that I would have failed the class if I didn't already know Spanish. She also gives out asinine amounts of homework and the way she structures the class will have you going homework free for about two weeks before she pummels you with hours worth of tedious bookwork. She also makes you responsible for knowing things that she hasn't taught you yet and worships the book.
She knows Spanish, but she can't teach it. I am being completely serious when I say this: if you don't already know Spanish (haven't taken at least three years and are comfortable with it): DO NOT TAKE HER. There are far too many good teachers in this department to receive a failing grade and take nothing from this class. Doesn't matter if you're trying to learn, pass, or both, this is not a good class to take.

Many people do not enjoy Profe Eller's class, but I did. She teaches quickly but if you have a question she is very open to answering. She will probably answer them in spanish, but if you ask after class she'll help you out.
The class in itself is a lot of activities and speaking. She wants a lot of participation so she takes points for that. If you have basic spanish knowledge & you participate & do well on the many tests & quizzes, you should get an A or a B

I was very scared by her evaluations on here but had to take her because of scheduling conflicts. I was greatly surprised when I met her. She is a nice person as long as you are on her good side. Come to class, participate, turn in your homework and she will like you.
Her tests are not bad at all. Some questions come directly off your in-class worksheets. She does seem to give some busy work but it is easy and counts for a grade which helps.
I haven't taken the final yet, but I assume it will be just as the other tests have been.
I only took two years of Spanish in high school and didn't learn much. You do review in the begining and it isn't a terribly fast paced class.
Just stay on top of your homework and study for her tests and your grades should be fine.

DO NOT TAKE ELLER FOR SPANISH!!!!! I don't how clear I can make myself on this. The workload for this 100 level class was higher than the workload I had for a 300 level at the same time. You have to go to 2 cultural events and write an essay on each, do online Quia homework, do and print out to turn in online quizzes, present a dumb 1 minute news article from a spanish speaking country, and make sure you participate too much in class because if you only participate 2 or 3 times and put your name in the cup she only gives you 2 points instead of the max. 3 that's promised if your name is in the dang cup. She also surprises you like two days ahead with a field trip at some point that is scheduled when you don't have spanish class or when you have a different class. ALSO, for every unexcused absence she deducts 3% off your final grade. Not 3 points, 3%!!!! If you were puking sick and couldn't come to class she expected a doctors note, because everyone goes to the doctor when they puke, yeah right. I should have gotten an A in this class no problem, I lived in a Spanish-speaking country for crying out loud, but she told me I needed tutoring!

This was one of my most difficult classes. Profe Eller always asks if there are questions, but her answers often make you feel like you're stupid for asking, or she won't answer at all, because the answer is in her syllabus or an email she sent. Although, I left class frustrated on more than one occasion, I do think that she knows the subject well and is not as un-understanding as she would sometimes like you to think. It's important to do everything, even if it's worth just 10 points, because they add up. Also, the unannounced quizzes are usually from the "lab quizzes" online, so it's in your best interest to do them ahead of time.

Jami Eller is the worst teacher that I have every been in contact with. She expects the student to already know the material before they step their foot in the door. She isn't very clear on what she explains and when you ask questions, like she suggests, she will snap back with rude smart ass remarks. I suggest any questions you have, you ask a classmate. They might be able to explain better than she can. She will make sure to mention all the time that she spent in whatever foreign country and everything she did there. Overall, Jami Eller is a horrible teacher and she should quit her job and travel professionally, that seems like the only thing that she is good at. I would not advise Eller, anyone is better than her!

Okay, honestly, Its not the worst class I have ever taken. Eller does make an attempt to cover everything, but she doesnt cover it well enough, I had previous spanish courses, and learned way more than this, this just helps me teach myself what to do, but when I try to say anything, I get shot down. then I try to participate in general and get deducted participation points, for participating more than anyone else, get accused of plagiarism by online translations of verb forms I knew, and she knew that I knew them! This class is irritating, take her class, and see why she makes you frustrated, throwing a surprise field trip on the next day, and a time when the class does not regularly meet... I can't deal with busy work people! get a good professor to instruct you, or you might have to see the department head for suggestions like we might be facing soon.

ATTENTION POTENTIAL SPANISH 11 STUDENTS: DO NOT TAKE JAMI ELLER!!! She really is the devil incarnate. Jami Eller is officially the worst teacher I've ever had and probably ever will have. The entire class period you are sitting in her class you don't understand a single thing she says because her lecture is entirely in spanish. And I'm not just talking about a couple of phrases either--everything she says. She doesn't give you any notes in class to help you study and the quia (on-line homework) is a ton--105 questions at a time. But that's not the worst part about her. We had to do this rough draft of a pen-pal letter and it had to be 10 sent. long but you couldn't use ANY OTHER FORM of the verb besides present tense. So i used one verb variation (for a command) and she told me I used an on-line translator and that i received a 0 for the assignment (when we weren't even supposed to receive a grade for it) and that i could turn in the final draft of it for partial credit!! I really didn't even cheat. All in All she's a big you know what!! DON'T TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT TO VISIT HELL 2-3 TIMES A WEEK!!!

(How are you suppost to learn spanish if you have to speak it fluently? You cant ask a question in spanish if you dont understand it in the first place.) She emails you all the time and says "any questions, feel free to email me", but if you do have questions she bites your head off for not understanding her the first time. Everyday in class she teaches with powerpoint that is in spanish. All she does is read the powerpoint which is in spanish without explaining what things mean and then the class repeats the spanish words she says. It's really not all that bad. Ms. Eller is a new teacher and has a lot to learn about teaching and is obviously somewhat uncomfortable around students. However, she does make the class somewhat enjoyable (you work in groups a lot and play games at least once a week). The main problem is that she teaches like you have had spanish before. I had two years of spanish in high school but if i hadn't I probably would have had to work much harder for a C, but it would be possible. Take her if you need to and if you actually go to class and genuinely try to understand her then you will do ok.
