Western Kentucky University / A / Elizabeth Ames

Dr. Ames is a goofball. She's always going off on tangents about crazy dreams and stories, which are very entertaining. She's not big into grading, so you will see very few grades throughout the semester. However she is very generous when it comes down to it. She is also pretty lax about deadlines, which is nice. The final research paper is a lot more flexible and has shorter length requirements than other profs give. From what I've heard about other ENG 300 profs I would recommend her above anyone else.

This class is a joke. Seriously. All she talks about is her crazy life and all of these cooky stories that have happened to her. Such as believing aliens entered her house, sitting on a midget in the movie theater and we even did "laughing yoga" on the floor one class. If you want an easy class, I would take her. The final SUCKS. she gives you like 350 vocab words to memorize and you have to probably use 115 on the final. Thats not even all that is on the final. On top of the final, you have to write a 10 page research paper (like any other class). Not to mention she has you write pointless essays and summaries for homework every class and attendance is huge in her class. It is a waste of 3 hours per week of my life that I will never get back. If you want to learn something, take someone else. If you want a class that is pointless but still with a lot of work..take Ames.

I cannot stand this teacher. She is crazy! We spent all semester hearing about her crazy life. I learned nothing in this class. If I would of know she was an awful teacher I would of never wasted my time and or $$$ on this crazy teacher..... Our final was over 340 vocabulary words...

Mrs. Ames is awesome!! She is absolutely crazy and will tell you story after story as the day rolls on. She makes English fun!

Elizabeth Ames is one of a kind! If you have the chance to get into her class I recommend it, strongly! She is flipping crazy and loves what she does! Seriously, you go to class and talk about stories for two hours!! and she gives you articles to read for homework.. it's cake! take her for 100,200,300 if possible!!

I love Mrs. Ames have taken her for all my english classes. You write a essay a week which she grades so easy its insane. :) The essays are over philosophical topics mostly i.e. beauty, imagination, etc. You write two large papers and do one presentation which she also grades easy. This woman is the most interesting person I have EVER met and possibly the funniest. She danced to Thriller one day in class just because she "felt the beat." Mostly in class she tells stories which are hilarious and little work is required. You always get out very early!

Ames is a fabulous teacher. This class was fun and a joy to attend. Ames will work with you and give you feed back on your papers before turning them in for a grade. There is only one test and it was about 100 vocabulary words, but she gives you the definitions a week in advanced so you have plenty of time to study. I would highly recommend Ames for a great teacher, good conversation, and a laid back atmosphere.

Ms. Ames is a hoot!! She has such a wacky personality that makes going to class very interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but she has quite a memory and it will be a determining factor in your final grade. We only wrote two 5-7 page papers and several very small summaries and opinionated essays. She says she doesn't give anyone a final grade below a B so I highly recommend taking Ames! You won't find an easier professor for English 300!

I love Mrs. Ames! First off, she's nuts. She always has crazy stories everyday in class. Her classes are so easy. I've taken her for 100 and 200 and am taking her for 300 next semester. She doesn't take attendance but you will want to go to class. I feel like she mostly grades on participation. You will have to write some short stories but she gives you such a broad range of things to choose from it's easy, even if you are a terrible writer or hate it she grades on if the story is good or not and the effort you put in it. I would recommend Ames to anyone. She's awesome.

Ms. Ames is a shining example of a teacher with passion and zing. She is funny, and understanding, her class is easy. You take three exams which she tells you everything to know. Then you will write about nine essays that are very easy. She gives participation and is very easy on you. She is a blast and a hoot!

I love this woman, shes a fruit loop. She curses, dances and bangs drums in class (for real). She loves active participation so show up and participate (its a grade). The exams are easy, only three and she lets you take home the essays to do. Shes a typical hippie with a free spirit and understands problems occur. I turned in a essay a week late and she said "Hell, that's fine just sit it on my desk and we'll say I just forgot to grade it." Overall: Ames is a great teacher who makes you think outside the line and see things different.

Ms. Ames was awesome! She can be a little crazy, but she always has funny stories to tell and she doesnt give you too much work. I would recommend her to anyone who wants an easy A in 100 or 200, I had her for both.
