Yes, this class is a Gen Ed and is fairly easy. However, Mr Crawley is SO boring. He drags on his words and says way to many things to get a point across. He kept us over class time almost EVERY class meeting. You give 4 presentations in the class (an introduction, informative speech, persuasive speech, and team presentation) he is too picky on his grading to be a Gen Ed class. He is the Communications advisor and probably needs to be teaching a higher level Comm class. If you can get out of it, dont take him. He is boring, the tests are much harder than they need to be (there are 2 one of which is the final), and you will have an extremely tough time going to class because it is so boring.

Mr. Crawley was such a good teacher! There were few assignments throughout the course of the semester, with only a handful of actual speeches. Sometimes it does seem he lectures a bit, but nothing extreme. Mr. Crawley was very quick in responding to emails, and was also very helpful if you needed help or extra-credit. His class, although not extremely difficult, really helped me with public speaking. I highly recommend taking this couse with Mr. Crawley.

Bruce Crawley should be a guidance counselor or a shrink--he is very calming and relaxing to listen to during class! He is a very kind man and is willing to help his students on anything they need help with! All of this can be important to students who have issues/fears with public speaking like I do! He does grade kind of tough for those who aren't the best public speakers in the world, but luckily his exams (only two or so) are really easy if you study for them. There are two speeches you must present (one in front of the entire class, the second one in front of your group of 5 or 6 peers), and the third is a group project presentation. Overall not asking for too much!
The only slight downside I would say is the lengthiness that Crawley expects on your speech outlines...I hear from my friends who have taken other teachers that his are more in-depth and more time-consuming than others. But still they aren't too bad.
Overall I recommend Mr. Crawley! =)

Mr.Crawley is the best teacher EVER! If you go to class and you pay attention, it's a piece of cake. The content is a little hard to understand at times, but he is a great professor and will take the time to answer questions in class. Don't be afraid to ask questions because he's willing to help!
I HIGHLY suggest printing off the 'note starters' that he provides. They are very easy to follow and they are wonderful for studying for your tests. There are several tests and a few speeches. There's also a couple of group projects in the class. Just participate and pay attention and you'll do wonderfully in this class!
Mr.Crawley ROCKS!

mr.crawley is a really nice guy, but his monotone voice put me to sleep everyday in that class, and he really just talks common sense to you but make sure you use his study guides to study for his tests because it helps a lot, but its not hard at all..and you do 3 speeches the whole semester (1 is a group presentation) and it was actually fun

Bruce is a cool person...but boring teacher. He has to go through the book and you take tests...bla bla bla. You have 3 speeches, one to the class, one to a "group" of people, and a group presentation. He's real relaxed about late work, and as long as you show up and shut up...he's happy. He likes you to participate in class...so say a few words here and there! DO show up at the end of the semester for the group project....you could end up with an incomplete!! Have fun (bring some homework and sit in the back of class!)

Mr. Crawley does a very good job with the class. He is very professional in his deliverance. He seems fair, although at times he seems to grade a little hard on how you deliver your speeches. Basically, study a little for the test and you should do fine since it is always 70% multiple choice and the rest short answer or essay where you have a choice on which questions you choose to answer for credit.

I found it very hard to concentrate in this class. Mr. Crawley is a really nice guy, but he seems to elaborate and ramble way too much. I cannot listen to him! The good thing is, there are only 3 speeches. One on your own, one to your group members (4-5 people) and one with your group. His test are pretty easy if you study good. I'll leave you with this, the folder for this class is the most decorated folder I have ever had.

If you act somewhat interested in what Mr. Crawley is talking about he will like you. He is a very nice man. You are allowed to miss up to 3 classes until he starts deducting points. The tests are not that hard. However, you can not just blow them off. I made that mistake on the first test. You give three speeches the whole semester, not bad compared to some other teachers. Also, the last speach is a group presentation. He is very smart and is a good teacher.

The difficulty of this class is not all that hard, and while I think Crawley is a really nice guy, his class is the most boring ever. Public speaking is one of my fortes, and even I didn't get excited about his class. Also, he seems to be something of a procrastinator-before you have to do speeches, he doesn't like to give you stuff back until the meeting before, so if you like lots of time to do stuff, maybe you should reconsider taking him.

Crawley is a good teacher, and I judged him as a good guy. (I think he would be an awesome dad.) But the class is... tedious. If you can take basic public speaking instead, then do that. The class will be awesome if you're interested in communications, or business. Being the innocent, bystanding, non-business kiddo I am, I couldn't really eat it up. But, it's not horrid. If you study at all, the tests are pretty easy. Don't discredit my opinion based on my grade; I never went to class and he has a certain liking for attendance.

the only thing really hard is the speeches and presentations you have to do. other than that its not bad, he'll talk about the class with you whenever you need to and he's really linient on deadlines for things. if you have to take the class anyway, getting him isnt that bad so you'll be alright with him

Crawley's an interesting guy. His only vice is that things are a little monotonous at the beginning of the semester, and if that's the worst you get from a professor, I'd say you're lucky.
He's creative in his assignments: he sticks you with a group of other students and gives you the task of creating your own business-- it's pretty interesting.
As far as work and deadlines go, he's pretty lenient. If you somehow miss a deadline (for a decent reason- I'm not talking about blowing it off) he'll work with you on it- he's allowed me to turn in late stuff a couple of times.
We do interviews, we do panel discussions, it's a fairly interactive course.
I highly recommend this guy.

Mr.Crawley is one of my best teachers that I've ever had. He likes class participation and likes to hear what you have to say. He made the class interesting with class discussions. There were only two 4-5 minute speaches, yet his test are pretty hard. don't expect that this class will be a breeze. You have to read your chapters and come to class.

I really liked him! Some people may feel that he is boring but I think he is really good. It is best to attend class regulary but if you don't it isn't hard to make it up-just read over the chapter we discussed in class. There aren't too many notes that you have to take and if you prepare for speeches, you will be fine in the class!

This class was by far the most imaginative class I've taken. Instead of giving us random speeches to make throughout the semester, Crawley created a project. Each person was assigned a group and each group decided on a new business to open up. All speeches and interviews related to these businesses. Not only did this assignment make the class interesting, it also allowed for extra credit. The business that received them most accolades from fellow students receives points added onto their final grade. Tests are very common sense related, and you can easily pass without studying.

Crawley is one of those people that thinks he knows everything. He's a communications teacher and this class is required you can't get out of it. He seems to think that he's a genius all he knows is communications he's an egotistical person and I'm dumber for have taking this class however I leave it with the knowledge that some teachers should quit the profession. I wish I had taken a different teacher and learned something. He is boring and mean.

The textbook is required, so I bought it. I didn't read the chapters for the tests and I managed an A in the class. The class consisted of: an interview/interviewee project, group project, informative speech, persuasive speech, a midterm exam (over 7 chapters), a final exam (over 5 chapters). He does like to lecture a lot...and he does use a LOT of big words. The course is mostly all common sense stuff, you just have to associate the common sense material with a larger vocabulary. Overall, he is a really nice guy, and a very good speaker--although it does get extremely boring.

Mr. Crawley expects a lot out of you, especially on speeches. He doesn't just hand you a good grade. However, if you are prepared well for your speeches and study your notes for the exams, you should be able to get out of there with no less than a B. He's a pretty good speaker, but he uses a lot of big words. Whether it's on purpose or not, it can get confusing sometimes.

He uses every available minute in the class to lecture and will sometimes hold you over so be prepared. The lectures go on and on so bring a book to read. Don't bother to read outside of class. Studying the notes is sufficient to pass the test. He's an alright teacher but nothing special.
