If you want to walk out of class feeling like the most incompetent person on the planet then this is the class for you. If you like putting in endless hours of studying and seeing no results and getting no help in return then this is the class for you. If you like having your grades announced in front of the class and being laughed at then this is definitely the class for you. Basically, if you like having your ego stomped into the floor and working your butt off for a grade that you will not receive then you need to jump at this opportunity to take this man's class. Besa mi culo punta!!!!!

Dr. Vergara-Mery is a stickler on knowing the grammar and participating. You HAVE to participate on a daily basis to even think about getting an A. There are a series of presentations that count for the grade...if you put some effort into them and already have mastered the rules through 202, you'll be fine. If not, this class could be difficult. There is an extra credit opportunity available and his door is always open to go and talk to him. As a Spanish major, I'm glad I took his class, as it was rigorous in it's setup, but for non-majors vergara-mery could prove to be unnecessarily tough.

He would be a great professor if you were looking to major in Spanish, or already had some knowledge of the language. He expects to much to fast with very little explanation of what is going on. Avoid if you are looking for a easy spanish gen ed credit.

Dr. Vergara-Mery, definitly has a unique teaching style! If you never want to feel good about the work you do, this is the class for you. Regardless of how hard you work or how much you study, you will still get papers back completly covered in red ink. There is no winning with this guy, he demands that you participate, yet he will cut you down for every simple mistake you make.
Passing the class isn't the hard part, dealing with the daily humiliation that he puts you through is!

Dr. Vergara-Mery is a great teacher. His classes are highly structured and he does require class participation. He is very personable and available to ask questions and such. Although he does demand a lot from the student you come away with a lot from the class. You never feel like he does not care about the student because he always works harder on the class than you do. Just try your best and check in on his website a lot and you will do fine.
