This class was very easy. I received a B but the only test I studied for was the final. I took this class as a freshman and hadn't had Spanish since my sophmore year in high school. You are allowed to miss 5 classes and can catch up on anything because he puts his notes on blackboard. He will work with you and is very kind person.

This is a very easy class but there is a bit of a language barrier between students and the teacher. You have a difficult time trying to understand him and him trying to understand you. If you havent had any background in Spanish I would not recommend this teacher. Luckily I had a good high schol spanish teacher and I understand the class, otherwise I would be lost. Watch out around campus for his mini yellow Escort because he likes to fly around campus!

This professor is very good in my opinion and is very funny. He does most of his lectures from powerpoint, so you can just print the powerpoints and not have to take notes. He gives worksheets as homework, but they don't take long to complete. His tests are very reasonable and are mostly done on the computer. I would definitely recommend him. I took this as a summer course, and I thought it was very easy.

This class was so easy! It can be boring if you have had spanish before, but that also means no stress. You have weekly hwk that is only collected to see if you did it...you get full credit if you turn it in. There are 2 tests and a final... all of which are easy. You have a group presentation about a spanish topic (5 mins) and a personal presentation in spanish just in front of Saravia. They were both easy. I would recommend taking this class if you want an easy ride. Mr. Saravia is pretty funny at times too... overall nice guy.

Saravia is a very funny person. The only reason he teaches spanish is because he's from Mexico, he's a graduate student. He is a great guy. Some of the time you don't know what he is talking about, but you usually figure it out. The class isn't boring because he stands on tables, gets under the table. You have a project to present with a group, and all the tests are on the computer. Don't miss too much or you lose a letter grade.

Dr. Saravia is a very good teacher and he is very understanding to his students' needs and questions. I had a good understanding of Spanish before I signed up for his class and if I'd known how easy his class was, I would probably have signed up for Spanish II. He teaches a lot off of powerpoint and you do about two quizzes and 3-5 pages of worksheets off of blackboard for every chapter plus ten sets of problems in the workbook, which don't take more than ten minutes if you pay attention in class. His tests are pretty easy and done on the computers in the language lab. His class tends to get very boring and drag on seemingly into eternity. Most of it is self-taught and I probably wouldn't have bothered going to class if he didn't have mandatory attendance... actually come to think of it I usually didn't go to class anyway. Everything is straight out of the book so as long as you read the chapters you do fine on the quizzes and homework. If his classes were more interesting, and if I'd taken his class as a MWF rather than an hour and fifteen minute MW class, I probably would have enjoyed his class a lot more because I really liked him as an instructor.

This professor is really good and really tries to help his students. However, I would not take him unless I had some introduction to the Spanish language. If I did not have a couple of years in high school, I would have been totally lost!

This class is a very easy class, especially if you have had any Spanish before. The teacher tries very hard to make sure that everyone understands what is going on, but it can get very boring, especially if you have had any Spanish. Overall, I would recommend his class, just expect to be bored.

Mr. Saravia was a great instructor. He is very understanding to the students inexperience to the Spanish language, afterall this is an elementary Spanish course. He always took the time out to go over anything we had trouble with and he went out of his way to be helpful and freindly to his students. During the time of this evaluation, it was Mr. Saravia's first semester here at Western, I hope he stays and continues his passion for teaching. I would definetly recommend this instructor for your Elementary Spanish course, he is awesome.
