Unfortunately, I took this class three quarters ago so I can't necessarily remember everything. I took this last summer after realizing that I had put it off so long, because I dreaded chemistry (after some bad experieneces in high school). Now I realize that I had nothing to dread--this class is a piece of cake compared to other science classes.
Callis is an old man who can be often seen walking around campus with a limp. The limp was a bit of a challenge to him as he had to be extra careful not to knock stuff around when doing demos in class. The demos in lecture proved to be quite interesting and were a nice change of pace from his otherwise boring lectures (I often fell asleep in class).
Callis's exams were fairly straight-forward. However, the homework assignments (on WebAssign) were sometimes long and tricky. The labs were not very difficult, although the one formal lab report was hard to write.
Overall, Callis can be a pretty funny guy. Not a bad professor to take Chem 142 from.
