Professor Engberg was a horrible professor at UNLV. I took this 400-level English grammar course online. I found that her downloadable notes were messy, disorganized, and had errors in them (where some sections occurred more than once in the wrong order). The professor was extremely unfair in her grading of homework assignments. She would give extremely vague directions, but then subtract points for every missed concept. Upon asking her if I could re-do the assignment (after she finally told us what she did want) and re-submit it, she said no. Every homework assignment from then on had the same problem: vague instructions but highly penalized grading for every missing item. The exams were no better. The multiple choice computer-graded exams online were o.k., but he essay question part of the exam was ridiculous. We were given 2 hours to answer 7 essay questions, each question having multiple parts and wanting specific examples. One question alone, which had been a previous homework assignment, had taken me 2 hours to do before and that was just one question! She also tested on information that was barely covered in either her notes/lecture or the textbook. On top of all this, she would use terms/vocabulary that was different from the text we were using. I felt like her lecture/notes were totally seperate from the information in the text. I took this class to learn grammar and for my love of English, but Engberg wasted my time and money. After all the time and work and sweat I put into this class I feel I came out learning nothing. Don't waste your time with this professor!!!
