Other assignments included 10 one-page writing assignments, 2 three-to-five-page writing assignments, a few extra credit opportunities, and 3 exams. The course itself was fine. The material was interesting enough and easy enough to understand as long as I did the reading. I feel that if I hadn't done the reading, I would've been completely lost, because the lectures were a waste of time. Granted, you're supposed to do the reading in ANY class, but I think you should also get something out of the lectures, and in this class, I could've skipped them altogether and gotten by just as well with only the reading. The professor spoke in a monotone voice and didn't explain things well. However, my biggest gripe is that at this moment, 5 days after the final exam, even though my professor has an assistant who helps him grade papers, I'm still missing 7 grades (NOT including my overall grade for the class). That's the reason I didn't specify what grade I got: I can't even make a guess! My advice is that if you have your heart set on taking this class, check to see if there is another instructor besides McNary teaching it. If there is, CHOOSE THAT ONE.
