This ARC 111 course was the hardest class that I ever had.
No because of the difficulty of the work but because of the amount of work and the need to read excessive amounts, as well as memorize the readings and slides, and drawings due each week.
I withdrew from this course because of how demanding it was, and because a I am unable to memorize anything.
The professor's lecutures were often very vauge and never made a point, so it was very difficult to understand what he is trying to say, and the information he gave was supposed to be useful for tests.
The Tests were
slide tests, where you memorize over 100+ slides and have to identify the buliding, the location, dates, and specific facts about it
or Essay Tests whic were very open questions that could be answered in any number of ways, but you have to guess from hundreds of pages you have read to the large amount of unclear, and unfinished notes that you have taken
The readings assigned were long and if you are not interested, or do not know much vocabulary of architecture, they are difficult to finish, but also understand.
The classes meet on Mon., Wed., and Fri.
Mon. is class lecture
Wed. is class lecture
Fri. is reading disscusions- they are held by TA's and not the professor, my class was divided into 4 reading discussion groups, and my TA wasn't particullarly helpful, they just asked questions to see if you had read, and my very last class, because people were not reading, they have quizes, and if you miss 3 out of 8 questions, you are given a 1/2 class absence.
This class is very difficult if you have other classes that are demanding. I am a very good student and work very hard to get good grades, this is the first time that I have ever dropped a class, because it was affecting my other classes, and I would fail if I just half-assed it because there is no possible was to do so with the attendance/reading quizes.
