If you are going to transfer from SCC without an Associates Degree I highly recommend that you do not take College Algebra at SCC. No matter the Professor it is ridiculously hard. Not meaning to scare you but I have heard that an average of 9 people in a class of 30 actually passes College Algebra at SCC. First, the book they choose is extremley difficult. Also, it almost seems like the Profs don't want you to pass or do good. I have a 3.8 GPA and the only C I have made in college came in this class. I did not like this grade, so when I came to Western I took the class over and passed it with an easy A. The professor here gave study guides and explained in detail what kind of problems were going to be on the test. In college algebra at SCC I have never heard of study guides. Again, it almost seems like the Professors are in competition to see who is the most difficult. A couple of notes on armstrong. The good: He adds 10 points to every test you take and drops your lowest grade. The bad: Despite this, I barley made a C in his class. Also, I know a lot of fellow students who thinks he is a complete azz, I liked him, however, I like almost everyone. Again, if you can spare yourself, I would strongly recommend to take College Algebra somewhere other than SCC.
