Additional Comments
This course is very different from financial accounting. I am an accounting major so the material usually comes fairly easy to me. Dr. Hunt, in my opinion, was not a very clear or helpful professor. Our classes normally consisted of taking at least 10 minutes to take roll, during which he would have random conversations with students that wasted our time. If we were beginning a chapter he would normally give us a couple notes or he would just jump straight into problems, telling us to do them while he sat in his chair. On the rare occasion he would complete a problem with us on the board, it took him the entire class to do the problem. As far as tests, they are all multiple choice with two problems at the end and some rare fill in the blank (I think we had them twice). He will normally tell you which problems to study beforehand and they are very similar to those on the test. If you study the problems and at least look over your notes.homework, the tests are not too bad. I made the mistake of not studying for the first test and made a 73, but made a 95 on the next, an 85 on the next, and an 85 on the final. All your homework is through Connect and is easy because you can check your work before submitting, but he never tells you when you have homework due. He will sometimes give you two days to complete it or he could give you up to five. Within the homework are learnsmarts that he allows as extra points, so if you were to miss a homework but did a learnsmart, you could make up for those lost points. Sounds easy but each learnsmart is at least 70 questions and takes on average two hours to complete. That on top of our homework means around three to four hours. Even so, DO THEM! My friend and I both had 85s and when he put in the learnsmarts her grade jumped up to a 92 because of them. Hunt does count some guest speakers and workshops the department puts on to count as extra credit also. He allows you to miss 5 classes without penalty, but after five you are not eligible for the curve on the final and he deducts points from you total. I missed four classes and it was fine.

I found the actual material in this course to be easier that 200 but Hunt's passive teaching style is the complete opposite of Ross (who I had for 200) and definitely did not suite me well. I pretty much had to teach myself everything and found it extremely hard to focus in class or even pay attention. Hunt would give us a problem, give us one or two check figures, and then tell us to work it while he sat in his chair, most times never working it out for us or giving us any direction. Dr. Hunt is very sweet and I think he means well but he was just not a very good professor for me. It was hard for me to want to go to class or even pay attention because he would either only cover one problem or just give us several to complete without direction. Do every homework, every learnsmart, and attend any extra credit things he offers. Make sure to study the similar problems he gives you for the test as well. It is very doable to get an A so I'm not necessarily saying not to take him, but just be ready to teach yourself and do what I suggested above.
