Additional Comments |
Taking this class with Dr. Brown is probably the least painful way to get through the class. There is a textbook, but it's free since he has written it just for his class. The text is sent to you in a pdf file and it super simple to read and understand the concepts he discusses in the text.
There were four exams including a final that was non-cumulative. The test structure is 15 to 20 multiple choice, and a dozen short answer questions. There is usually a curve on each test in addition to extra credit as part of a review game prior to each test. Grades come from the tests and a project that is super easy and takes around two hours to complete the whole thing. You develop a measure and assess reliability and validity using SPSS and you write a short 2-3-page paper that is almost entirely written for you and you just plug in your own data.
Dr. Brown's teaching style is loaded with dry humor and amusing anecdotes from his life. The material is pretty boring, but overall if you really psychology this shouldn't be too bad. He prints of copies of his lecture powerpoints, so notetaking isn't too bad. I highly recommend taking this class with Dr. Brown as it was as he often says "Good times."
