Additional Comments |
Dale is a difficult professor to understand, but he will push you to do your absolute best in your writings. Some people may not like that, even though at times it is necassary. You don't have any tests except he might quiz the class on a reading assignment, but he usually gets angry because the class receives poor grades and doesn't give any more. The class is conducted in a bit of a trying way because you are required to pick a topic at the beginning of the semester and write five papers on it for the rest of the time. If you ask me, that's kind of like beating a dead horse. Most people get sick of their topic by their third paper. If you want to take a class with Dale, my advice would be to pick a topic you know next to nothing about and has a few different angles to it, so that your papers don't get repetitive. Dale also likes to give 40 minute in-class writings, so be prepared for those. There is no final in this class, but you are required to hand in a folder of all your work from the class at the end of the semester and go to the class for the scheduled time. During that time, you have to write a letter to the incoming english 100 students taking Dale's class. He does have his students read those, by the way.
