Dr. Zhang is an extremely smart chemist, but he is difficult to learn from. I enjoyed his class and I will take him for Organic II. I found myself getting help from tutors 3-4 hours a week and I went to see him in his office a few times a week. You definitely need to do a lot of leg work for this class, but it is worth it. His class forces you to learn the material. He is a difficult teacher, but if you are good student, you will be fine!

Only take Dr Zhang if you are good at memorization or can get your hands on old tests. He is a horrible teacher. My grades are typically A-B and this is the first time I have done this poorly in any class. He talks but never really teaches. But if you want a teacher to make you feel like an idiot or have them laugh at you about your desire to do well in the class or receive a good grade, take Dr Zhang. If you want to learn, take Dr. Snyder. Again, do not take Dr Zhang unless you have his old tests and can memorize. It is the only way you will pass.

Dr. Zhang is a great professor. He is willing to help his students whenever they start to become overwhelmed. The tests arent to bad if you finish the self tests and the homework. The ACS final is easy if you just follow his notes and study a little everyday.

Dr. Zhang is a nice man, but very hard to understand. Besides the fact that his accent makes it hard, he didn't answer questions very well when we asked about the material. He covers the material very quickly and you pretty much have to teach yourself. He is in his office a lot so you can go ask questions, but the communication barrier makes it very difficult.

Dr. Zhang is an extremely nice guy and is willing to help. However, it is hard to even know what questions to ask. I hated his teaching style. It is all powerpoint slides, which I can stand, but he doesn't give enough time to even write the stuff. However, you can print the slides off. I personally like to see examples on the board. He rarely wrote on the board. He was difficult to understand for the first week or so but I got used to him. He does curve at the end but that was a confusing process. I believe there were 8 A's given in my class. Anyone who had a 76 OR ABOVE....got an A. Needless to say the actual grades in the class were poor. The test average was usually upper 50's.

Zhang is a very nice man, except for the fact that he cannot speak much english... at all. I often felt like I should have been given credit for a foreign language course as well as a chemistry course. The material shouldn't have been as hard to learn as he made it. I basically had to learn the material on my own through the text book. I doubt anyone in my class honestly understood what he was talking about in class, in fact, if attendance wasn't mandatory I probably wouldn't have came, and I probably would have done just as well. On the plus side - his powerpoints are well made and he does give some extra credit. If you have a chance to take another professor I would advise it, but he is not absolutly horrible.

Dr. Zhang is a very intelligent man and I think he know's alot about organic. Here's the problem, he basically speaks CHINESE!!!!! This man is the hardest person I've ever tried to listen and understand what he's saying. If you can get another professor do it. Nice guy though.
