What a horrible professor! This class was a major waste of my time, in my opinion, despite the 4.0 I managed to score. Professor Moore's handwriting is atrocious, so I found it very difficult to read the notes on the board. Plus, he has a habit of standing directly in front of what he's writing, so students can never see what he's talking/writing about. I gave up taking notes after the 2nd week of class. His voice is boring too, so I usually fell asleep in lecture.
His exams aren't that great either. He expects you to provide your own paper, so trying to organize your answers in the exam is a challenge. After the one midterm we had in class, I stopped attending class altogether and I only showed up to turn in homework. Apparently, I wasn't the only one, because despite the fact that there were 40 students registered in the class, only 20 actually sat in lecture. The rest simply left the class after the 1st 5 minutes or didn't show up at all. Fortunately, the material is easy enough to learn by yourself.
However, there were some advantages that this professor offered. Extra-credit is rare in the Math department (and elsewhere on campus), but Professor Moore offered 2 extra-credit assignments and allows students to rack up a lot of extra-credit points on exams, which is what I did. Plus, the use of calculators in during Math exams is usually prohibited by professors, but not by Professor Moore (but only to check answers).
The verdict? If you only care about getting a good grade, take this guy. But if you truly care about getting a good education, this guy will not give it to you.
