Additional Comments
Singleton is perhaps the hardest professor I've ever had at Vanderbilt. His lectures are far more advanced than the textbook, difficult to understand, and somewhat on the boring side. His tests are unbearably hard! They are all short essay questions and combine concepts into a previously unexperienced type of problem to test conceptual knowledge and problem solving. Avoid Singleton if you can! The class average at midterm is only a 70. From what I've heard, if you MUST take this class, take the Carter/Patton section. Apparently the tests in there come directly from notes and are fairly easy if you have properly prepared.
