Additional Comments |
Vietnam vet on returning home gets spat on but several years later takes on a professorship in history, to teach the history of the downtrodden,America's "undesirables", "untouchables" and "unmentionables" instead of the mishaps and victories of corporate gangsters who are running our govt under Bush and Sons, Inc. (formerly known as the United States). Dr. Nobile sticks it to the "man" where it hurts and counts. Vince holds an extremely liberal political ideology close to mine (I'm a Democratic Socialist). Films such as Natural Born Killers, It's a Wonderful Life are viewed for their social commentary, not for its "entertainment value" Nevertheless both films were a delightful break from three hours of lecture on Fridays 9-12. Success in Dr. Nobile's class is guaranteed by putting forth all your being into every assignment crossing your path; coupled with doing well on exams, and doing essays. Assignments were past the threshold of fun. Books were earth shattering and intriquing such as Howard Zinn's People's History of the United States, and Upton Sinclair's, The Jungle. Trust me he is well worth investing in and you will not regret it at the end of the semester when grades are turned in and get this satisifaction like no one else that you have learned "muckracking history" that can forever change the world of those you care for as well as bettering the human race. Thanks Dr. Nobile for inspiring me. Vince comes highly recommended for any class he teaches.
