Dr. Bowker is great! he is hilarious! he kinda gets off subject sometimes and talks about off the wall things, but always relates it to biology! the glycolysis/krebs cycle test is the hardest one! the others arent that bad! the final is cumulative but is the easiest of all! i would recommend this course and Dr. Bowker to anyone! he is a really good professor and just an all around great guy!

Mr. Bowker is a really funny guy. He is okay at teaching the class. Sometimes the material he doesn't even cover is on the test. That is what is hard about the class. He gives you an outline of what will be on the test. But that doesn't mean that some things that aren't on the outline won't be on the test. Just the outline for the second test was 13 pages long, so that wasn't fun to study. The tests ended up being bad for that test anyway. But sometimes he gives curves. The greatest thing about his class is that he gives extra credit quizes. The good thing about this is if there isn't many people in the class on a particular day he will give a pop quiz. The quizes are so easy. He will write the question on the board and put the answer to it underneath the question and draw an arrow to it. These quizes are meant to give extra credit to the people that actually show up. The class isn't that bad if you study hard and come to class. He doesn't review for the test, so if you miss a day you are out of luck!

Dr. Bowker is a great teacher. He actually cares about his students and will do anything to help you. I can't imagine a Bio 120 class being more interesting than his. He does not follow along with the book, if that is important to you. I would definately take him again if he offered other courses.

If you actually want to learn something and not just fly by in a class, then take Dr. Bowker. I learned so much that I will take with me as I continue through college. Not to mention that he is very helpful and caring.

Dr. Bowker is a really nice man. He teaches you so much. I learned so much during the semester. The exams are pretty difficult. He offers plenty of extra credit though so if you have a borderline grade then you may get boosted up to the next grade.

All I have to say is, Dr. Bowker is the man! I can't wait to have him more in the future. He is very passionate about biology. His tests come straight from the notes. I didn't use my textbook any. He does make you buy a supplemental book called Hens Teeth and Horses Toes. It's a great biology book regarding different animal evolutions. His class is not easy, and you must come every time. If you are looking for an easy A, Bowker is not for you. If you want to learn about biology, take Bowker. You will LOVE him.

Dr. Bowker is awesome. A little scatterbrained but he teaches in the lovely room of death, which is well worth your time. "Make sure to check out the red fox." The book is helpful but not needed, tests come from the notes.
Attend class because if no one is there pop quizzes are given. i.e. What is the color of the green pigment in clorophyl? and Name the Jackass: a. bill clinton, b. richard bowker, c. equis asinus, d. george bush
Gives extra credit by attending biology lectures. Recommend taking this professor.

Dr. Bowker is awesome-he obviously loves to teach and does it well. He likes to make class interesting. He's funny and he's really cool too. As long as you take notes and understand the notes that you took, and ask questions when you don't understand, you'll do great...tests can be hard, but the final was cake.

If you ever have a chance to take a class with Dr. Bowker, JUMP AT IT!!! While he does have a tendancy to give snippets of random info that might be on the test, if they are important enough to remember, he will tell you about them several times to be sure you are familiar with the subject matter. He repeats notes as needed for the slower learners in the class and covers subjest matter very thoroughly. He is extremely interesting and eager to help students succeed. Another plus is that he is very good about posting on-line test outlines about a week before each test. The outlines can look scary, but if you know the info on the outline, you're sure to make an A in the class!!!

This class was extremely easy. the tests are a joke, just look at your notes a few tims. i really didnt learn anything that i hadnt already learned in high school. Dr. Bowker is a nice guy, but i didnt like his teaching style. he constantly changes topics and repeats notes all the time. but thats just my opinion, everyone else seemed to really enjoy him.

Dr. Bowker's lectures are interesting, but he barely touches on many of the main points of the class. His tests are over tiny details that he talked about for once second in class and get lost in the elaborate talks of fireflies and giraffes. He is very hard to follow. I wish I would have taken a boring lecturer who would have stuck to the reading material.

Dr. Bowker is the best professor I have had so far here at Western. His lectures are very interesting and he applies topics in the class to real examples in the world. This makes learning easy. Attendance is not mandatory but if he sees that alot of people are absent, he will give a "quiz" (that is for extra credit) but he writes the answer on the board and all you have to do is copy it down. If you attend class and study your notes you will do fine. I never opened my book. His tests are strictly over his lectures. I would recommend Dr. Bowker for ANY class!!! He's great!

Dr Bowker has very interesting lectures, my only quam with him is that the material presented on the test is often things just touched on in class, rather than the more important ideas of Biology. I believe i could have had an A , if i would have known how to study for his tests at the beggining of the year. I would still recomend him.

If you are not willing to study or take notes in class then this is not the class for you. Otherweise this is a wonderful course! Dr. Bowker is the head of the Department and though this makes him a little hard to catch at times he is a wonderful teacher and takes time for his students. He understands excused absences for you sport players. I encourage you to be active in discussion and ask plenty of questions. He is very energetic, humorous (often making fun of himself), and makes the material highly interesting. He also stays after class to answer any question a student might have. This is by far the most NONboring class I have taken yet. TAKE NOTE: 1. he occationally goes a bit fast and therefore makes a few mistakes during lecture but if you pay attention you can catch them AND 2. be in class! he gives mini quizes with totally obvious answers just to take attendance and this will help your final grade if you are there 99% of the time.

Dr. Bowker is the most enthusiastic professor I have had at Western. He makes biology fun and easy to learn. His tests aren't very difficult at all, and you don't even really need the book. If you have to take any biology courses at all, I would try to get one with Bowker.
